Default Account Verified? Seriously?

Hiya everyone!
I must announce that after 2 sets of dispute letters to each CRA, my credit scores have increased about 78-82 points! YAY!

Now for a question...

One of my disputes with the CRA was for an old credit acct that went into collection in 2006. I paid the acct in full but of course it's still reporting as negative on my credit report.. So, I wrote a letter to 'validate' or 'verify' the account being truly mine and blah blah blah. They responded saying the account is paid in full and there is a zero balance and attached a copy of statement from 06/06... Really? That means its verified? How do I tackle it now? I don't wish to send the letter to the CRA because the letter clearly states it is a debt collecting agency. Any tips on how to get this sucker removed?

Thanks a ton,

Whootle

A statement doesn't constitute as validation. Send them another one letting them know a statement doesn't cut it. Tell them you want to see the contract you signed with them. (They don't have one, they are a CA.) Stay persistent. Use these letters:

It won't hurt to dispute it again with the CRAs again. I dispute every account multiple times until it comes off.

Default When is the proper use of the letters?

So when do I use what letters? I think I really understand the dispute letters but what are the validation letters good for? I dont understand about them I guess.

The debt validation letters are sent to collection agencies. You can read more about debt validation here:
