Question on HIPAA
After reading WhyChat and the HIPAA thread, I'm ready to begin the process of trying to get my medical bill deleted. I have two questions before I begin:
1. One of the key points is to not make ANY contact with the CA. Well, before I found this site I had several phone conversations with the CA confessing my ownership of the debt and talk of a settlement. Nothing came of these conversation, and haven't heard from them in months. This debt is only a year old, so the debt is still owned (assigned) by the OC. Do these conversations that I've had with the CA spoil HIPAA deletion process? Or can I still pay follow the HIPAA process to the letter now, and begin payment and disputes?
2. The hospital that gave me treatment has separate billing for the doctors and the hospital itself. This resulted in two different CA's, one for $1200 for the hospital, and one for $300 for the doctors. I've paid the doctor's bill to the OC. Now, since the hospital has separate billing for the doctor's and hospital, do I need to write two HIPAA letters: one for the hospital and one for the doctor?
Thanks alot, and sorry if I missed this in another post.
