I have a HSBC charge-off from September 2007. Since then my credit has greatly improved. In the past 60 days Orchard Bank (HSBC) has sent me 2 separate letters for a pre-qualified Platinum Mastercard and 1 letter for a pre-qualified Platinum Visa. I would accept this card in exchange for HSBC removing the old charge-off from my credit reports. Obviously I cant just call the 800 and ask a low-level rep to do this, so who would I talk to about this and what is the likelihood of success? Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this. |

Have you tried disputing it with the CRAs and then asking for a 623 dispute investigation with the OC first? I don't think I would try bringing up an old charge off to someone who is offering me credit.
