Default HSBC wants to give me a new card but...

I have a HSBC charge-off from September 2007. Since then my credit has greatly improved.

In the past 60 days Orchard Bank (HSBC) has sent me 2 separate letters for a pre-qualified Platinum Mastercard and 1 letter for a pre-qualified Platinum Visa.

I would accept this card in exchange for HSBC removing the old charge-off from my credit reports. Obviously I cant just call the 800 and ask a low-level rep to do this, so who would I talk to about this and what is the likelihood of success?

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this.

Have you tried disputing it with the CRAs and then asking for a 623 dispute investigation with the OC first? I don't think I would try bringing up an old charge off to someone who is offering me credit.
