Default Account was never signed for at time of application

This question stems from my other post about co-signer accounts that the co-signer never signed anything...

QUESTION:

What if an account was opened say over the internet and an application for a credit card was never signed or ID given? I know some may say well, you signed a reciept sometime after it was open BUT.... Technically, the account was never signed for at time of application.

Wouldn't that be the problem of the institution that gave out a card without someone giving identifcation and signing for it?

just a legal thought...

I think once you send them a check or pay it you're kind of admitting that it's yours. I think there is also a bunch of legalese that you agreed to when signing up for the account online. You'd have to have a hell of a lawyer to convince a judge that you weren't responsible for the account. :p
