Default Mailing dispute letters to credit bureaus

I've read mixed information on the best way to send a dispute letter to credit bureaus. Some emphasize it has to be send by priority mail or certified but on this forum it is mentioned that the mail should be sent by regular post. Isn't there a fear of credit bureaus refusing to acknowledge that they received your letter (or your letter really getting lost).

What should I do? Priority mail or regular mail?

thanks

I used to work for a credit repair company. We sent out hundreds of disputes and we never sent out priority mail or anything requiring a signature and we never had a problem with the CRAs acknowledging that they received our letters.

Default Fax Your disputes to the credit bureaus...

Why don't you just fax the disputes in....I had a credit repair company back in 2006. I've ALWAYS used the fax machine to deliver my disputes, sometimes I even emailed the disputes to the credit bureaus. Saves a ton on stamps and I have PROOF of delivery!

I would only send a certified letter if I was sending the credit bureaus an "intent to sue" (litigation) letter.

Hope this helps.

That's good stuff, willin2learn. Do you have the fax numbers for the CRAs?

Default Credit Bureaus Fax Numbers....

Fax numbers

Transunion # 714-525-0166…this is the one I’ve used for TU
Other Transunion numbers I’ve used:

1 (714) 525-0668
2. (610) 546-4771
3. (866) 887-2673

Equifax # 888-826-0597
Other Equifax numbers I’ve used:

1. (770) 729-0083
2. (888) 826-0549
3. (800) 685-1111

Experian 972-390-3838…this is the one I’ve used for Exp
Other Experian numbers I've used:

1. (888) 397-3742

Experian Business fax is 714-830-2903

Please verify and update these numbers as needed. The credit bureaus fax numbers do change. You can also get the fax numbers from the cust service reps at each bureau. You may have to call back a few times to get the right rep on the phone. You want the one who will be willing to share the fax numbers with you. Don't Give Up! Some reps will make you believe that they don't have a fax machine in-house....Go Figure!

Hope this helps.

Default Question about disputes

I happen to have several bad accounts on my reports and I was going to send in disputes letters to have them verified and I was wondering if it was better to do just a couple on one letter and then more on a different letter and if that is the way it should be done how long between each letter should I wait? Thanks so much for your help this is the best forum!

You don't want to dispute too many items per dispute. How many were you thinking? You will want to wait at least 30 days between disputes; even if the CRAs send you the results early.

Default How Many Items to Dispute

As a consumer - With all due respect....If I had 17 negative-inaccurate items reporting on my credit profile as of today, I wouldn't hesitate to dispute ALL 17 with each of the credit bureaus TODAY!

As a Credit Repair Business - If I was still doing credit repair as a business and I wanted clients to continue to pay my monthly fee, there would be no need (or urgency) to clean the credit reports as fast. So in this scenario and only this scenario would I not send a dispute listing All of the negative items.

My good friend owned the credit repair company, but he was first and foremost a mortgage broker. It was in his best interest to get clients' credit scores up as fast as possible so that he could get them into a home. He didn't charge monthly.

The reason we would never dispute 17 items at a time is because they would almost for sure come back as a frivolous dispute. When a CRA deems your dispute as frivolous, you are pretty much red flagged and screwed. It can pretty much guarantee those negative items will never come off your report for 7 years. It's much wiser to break it into 3, maybe even 4 disputes, depending on how urgent you need them off.
