This is probably a stupid question, but once I send a pay for delete letter, how do I know that the info will actually be removed from my credit report. Once the original creditor or collection agency gets the $$ I offer to send for deletion what recourse do I have if it is not removed?

Welcome to the forum! There are no stupid questions here. Generally OCs can be trusted. Collection agencies can not be trusted. It's important to get all of their promises in writing. Some of them won't bother with it. If that is the case, then it's up to you to decide whether you want to trust them or not. If you the debt is actually yours, it will feel good to pay it. The accounts are also verified a lot less often when they are disputed if they are paid because the creditors simply don't care about them once they have your money.
