Default Trying to clear Recent Dental Collection

December 09 a bill of mine was sent to collection after I made a 100 payment to the dentist. This was for about 600 dollars. Now I see on my credit report its being handled by Trojan Services.

I called my dentist and asked if they would accept payment and they said they would but that Trojan Services would just report it PAID and not clear if from my report.

I have spent a few days reading and today registered my name.

Is my understanding right that if the dentist accepts payment, Trojan Services cannot report this against me anymore?

Any time a collection agency reports an account it's a "collection account" and is considered negative whether it is a paid collection or unpaid collection. So, you definitely want to have that removed; not updated.

Even if you pay it, Trojan Services can report it for up to 7 years. So, if you dispute it and they can not provide proof that you have an agreement with them (which they can't, because you don't have an agreement with them) then they have to remove it. So, in short, dispute it.

I contacted Trojan and they told me to pay the OC directly.

Does this mean I can contact the credit bureaus and ask them to remove it from my report?

Not really. You can dispute it and you can ask the CA to remove it, but that doesn't mean they will just because they told you to pay the OC. You don't really need an excuse or reason to dispute something. If you dispute it, they have to investigate it. It's the law.
