Default Paid Charge Off Challenge

I've got a paid charge off (on all 3 reports) that is really dragging down my score. It was an $1100 balance with ..... Cap1. I have been in the process of divorce for over 2 years. I thought ex-husband was paying this (since he withholds $200 per month from child support for credit card payments). Unfortunately, he was not and it went 120 days past due. I paid it in full (didn't even try to negotiate ... after all, I owed it).

Any ideas on how to proceed? Since it is Cap1, is it virtually impossible to have removed? Any suggestions are really appreciated...

Kris

No, it's not impossible. How old is it?

Thanks for the quick response, Chane.

It's only about 6 months old. The delinquencies occurred occurred last summer. I entered into a payment plan only 2 days after it was referred to an attorney agency (and became a "charge off) I had it paid off in a couple of months, and didn't try to negotiate a settlement. I just paid it in full.

Yea, being that new it's not going to be easy , but it's worth a try.

Any suggestions on how to attack? Should I start with a goodwill letter or use some other strategy? Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated!

I would start off by disputing it. If it doesn't come off, then try a goodwill letter. Just stay persistent. There are many different ways to get it removed. Try all of them one at a time until one works.
