I am in the midst of buying a house, however, my loan documents were denied because of the following reasons. I'm hoping that someone out there can offer me some advice and guidance. I received my free annual credit report and found the following. In 2001, I have a Citibank credit card, that card has been sold to the CA. They sent me a letter and offered a settlement offered, in which, I agreed. I paid the debt off at a 65% reduction of the present balance. However, on my credit report, they are still showing that I still owe them. I still have the documentation proving that I did pay my debt. It may be a little bit too late but I am thinking of sending them a goodwill letter, stating that I did my part and pay for the debt, and asking if they can remove it from my credit report. *crossing my finger* The other delinquencies that I have on my credit report is my Sear Mastercard, which has been sold to a CA. I have not yet settled this. Because I'm not sure what I should do. I was thinking of PTD or ask for a debt validation. I'm so lost at this, any guidance would be greatly appreciated. |

It sounds like you are on the right path. Try a goodwill letter. If that doesn't work, try disputing it. The account should only be on there for 7 years. They need to quit reporting it immediately if it's past that date. You may just want to skip the goodwill letter and dispute it. It's a very old account and they probably won't verify and/or realize that it shouldn't be there.
