If the Original creditor sold the debt are they still allowed to report it as a debt owed them and should I dispute it or will this wake a sleeping giant.

Yes, they are allowed to still report it. They usually have "washed their hands" of the debt if they sold it and it is now the CA's problem so I would probably dispute it depending on how old it is. But, there is always a possibility of waking up that giant. It's your call.

I don't understand this. If you have a let's say credit card and you stop paying it for say two years and they give up and do a charge off and sell it to a bottom feeder you mean that the original credit card company can undo the charge off and come back after you. I find this so confusing! I would keep disputing the charge off and then keep verifying with the new bottom feeder IMO. Sink:cool: |
