Default Please Help! New to this!

My wife and I are going through the process of pre approval for a mortgage. She has perfect credit, mine not so much. A majority of my issues are coming from Student Loans that have been paid off. Sallie Mae is listed as PAID (about 6 lines worth on my report), and the other loan takes up 3-4 lines and is marked PAID AS AGREED. Our lender has advised me to contact each office and ask to have these deleted. Can anyone give me advice on this? I've spent the last few hours reading these threads and it looks like I've stumbled unto the right spot, but I'm thouroughly confused. I also have a few entries that need to be paid off (4 $60 tickets, $440 from a credit card a defaulted on when I was unemployed). I'd be willing to copy and paste my report if someone could help. I want so much to provide my wife with a house. Thank You.

Hi Arun Welcome

I'm going to start off by pointing you in the direction of this thread..... it just gives you a starting point.

Basic Step by Step Beginner's Guide to Credit Repair

Are the student loans just showing paid as agreed? If so, that sounds like they're reporting positively. You would not want to have those removed.

As far as the credit card, how old is it? Is it out of SOL? Is it a CO? Just a little more info on that one (or you could post it if you wish)..

On the tickets. Were they paid? How old are those?

Ok, So I was mistaken about the paid as agreed...that was my wife's (it was all intertwined). So the ISAC shows as paid collect. What can I do to have those deleted? The Sallie Mae stuff has items shown as paid and the there are duplicates that make it seem it's not paid (?). The CC and Tickets as well as a few other open collections are also shown. Trish I really appreciate you looking at this. Any advice is helpful.
Thanks!

Ok, I may have to break these up into several posts because I don't get too much time in one sitting....
Plus, maybe that will make it easier to digest. :p

Ok.....I'm going to stop there so this will all be SL related.

The first two and the last four that are NOT highlighted actually appear to be reporting positively. If I am missing something, please let me know.

Regarding the ones that are in red, were these charged off? Are they still currently being paid on?

One thing you can do for lates (and this is with pretty much any type of debt) is to try a goodwill letter. This is basically just a letter explaining your situation or hardship and why you were unable to pay.... apologize, beg for forgiveness, promise that it will never happen again....and ask them to remove the late notations.
Now I will warn you up front that SLs are going to be VERY difficult. There are a different set of laws they go by and they may tell you that by law, they are not allowed to change or remove notations unless it is their mistake. It still never hurts to try.

Another option is to dispute them with the CRAs as never late.

I will try and come back soon to address the others you posted.

What are the details on this one? Is it reporting correctly?
It looks like it may be out of SOL.....what state are you in?
If it is out of SOL, you can at least dispute it without worrying about them trying to sue you.
You could even do a 1 2 punch and if they actually validate the debt, possibly try a PFD and/or settle for less.

This one is pretty recent..... is it reporting correctly?
If you are willing to pay, you could send them a debt verification letter (not validation letter - those are for CAs only and this is an OC) and then try to get them to agree to payment/settlement. If at all possible, see if they will remove the late notations and charge off status once you pay it off. Some OC will actually go for this.......but it's not an easy task.

the CBM ACCT Serv was in Indiana, I'm in Illinois now.

The other one was recent, it was charged off in the 3 months where I was unemployed at the beginning of the year

Then it should be out of SOL.
You go by the state you currently reside in..
SOL in Illinois is 5 years.
