Default What must a ca validate and what do we look for to trip them up?

I am sure this question has been posted here before....somewhere.

Can anyone of you very experienced people spell this out in simple terms? How should we approach sending out a DV letter to these collection agencies?

We all know that most of the time, they do not have the necessary validation per the FDCPA to collect.

After receiving your validation request, the collector must stop attempts to collect the debt from you. This includes phone calls, letters, and reporting the debt on your credit report. The collector cannot resume collection activity until it validates your debt.

They usually still report it, without validating it, which is a violation. If you've kept a paper trail and can prove the CA has violated your rights under the FDCPA, you can sue in federal or state court for up to $1,000 including damages. You should also report violations to the FTC.

Read the FDCPA for a more thorough explanation.
