Default Duplicate Student Loan accts reporting

Good afternoon to all, I am new to the forum and have a few questions as I have been working on cleaning up my CB. I have on my report my student loans which went into default due to slow pay, and eventually lack of pay. They were transferred to a company who specializes in colletctions for student loans apparently. I have gotten back on track and pulled the Student loans out of Collection and is actually placed with a lender currently and made my first payment. Back on track you could say.

Well upon review of my report there are mulitple duplicates of these loans littered through out my report. They are reporting multiple loans any where from a single duplicate to what appears to be as many as five duplicate accts with Sallie mae, also there is another company it also appears that are reporting the same loans, and also duplicating themselves (sorry about the large run-on sentence).

I guess I have a couple questions regarding this issue. 1. Is the multiple reporting of these accounts affecting the outcome of my scores. 2. on the summary of the report it is showing that I have a total balance of $75,632 in the collection trade total balance. When in fact is should be no more than I believe $20k or so for the school loans themselves, is this effecting my score as well and what would I need to do to correct these? My loan is now reporting on my CB in install trade line. Which makes sense but does not make sense to have all of these showing as said above amount looking like I have that much in collections.

Also I notice in the comments sections below the accounts it says a variety of things. Such as Comments: CURRENT ACCOUNT/WAS DELIQUENT, but in the duplicate account it will say ACCOUNT TRANSFERRED OR SOLD, STUDENT LOAN?

Now if you were to ask me it does not seem current if the no longer have this account. I think that pretty much wraps up my question and appreciate any information and input regarding these issues.

Thank you

Default anyone?

OK, I notice that I have gotten some nibbles but not any responses. Am I vague as to what I am asking or leaving out some details that are important? would it help if I provided a snap shot of the duplicate accts reporting? If so please ask, this seems to be and extemely informative forum and just looking for a little love you could say!!!

What seems to be a major issue is the Student loan that went into collection which has actually been pulled out and waiting for the update on my CB to take effect. Which I believe will be a major benefit to my Scores.

In particular my duplicate accts with the OC (sallie mae), do I need to send them a letter regarding the dupicates and ask them to review, verify and correct any descrepencies? If so are there any links to a letter or examples that I should use? Or could this be done by a simple phone call? Which would be the best action to take?

Or are these accts better left alone causing no damage to my score currently. I really only need to gain a few points on my CB to accomplish my goal but running out of time for the assistance with Uncle Sam.

I have succesfully disputed and had a collection with NCO removed that they could not verify, and had another acct with pinnacle verified, settled and reported paid in full. Once again thank you for any guidance and assistance that can be provided.

Default respnoses

So, just working this out typing. I have called Sallie Mae to speak to them about reporting my loans to the CRA's correctly and updating them. Well, in conversation they said that they do not have any records of me having loans with them just my general information. Which they updated and I am feeling like I should of pushed through and not answered these questions, may have made a boo boo.

Well anyway since they do not have records of these accts. from here I suppose that I would do a dispute with the CRA's to have them verify and if not remove them from my records, correct?

Also the very last acct for Sallie Mae shows the full amt of the loans added together and in commets states that "DEBT IS BEING PAID THROUGH INSURANCE; STUDENT LOAN", should I dispute all of these, together also they have duplicate accts listed as "SM SERVICING" And other accts matching the duplicates listed as "SLMA" (STUDENT LOAN MKT ASS) . I would think I should include all of these in one dispute letter.

Now all in all in one letter to the CRA's I will have 19 total accts. listed for dispute, is this over load for one dispute?

Figured I would give it one more shot to see if any responses could be generated by visuals. These are the Student Loan accts on my CB. Now I put this in a chart where I had it side to side matching the Experian and the Transunion/Equifax reportings where it was easier to compare but that doesn't translate over to the forum. I tried to upload but just not that savvy I guess.

Any way, side by side you can see 1. that these are being reported by Sallie Mae or a derrivitive of Sallie Mae multiple times. 2. as previsously mentioned I called, which I should of probably sent a letter, to speak with them as to why they are duplicating and reporting and why it is all such a mess essentially.

Well the gentleman said that he could not verify that there is any information regarding any loan that I have or had with them. I Obviously didn't have a recorder nor did I get his last name, he told me that I need to file a dispute with the CRA's. 3. So I would assume that I need to send a dispute with all of these accts to them for them to dispute and allow them to investigate the situation. 4. being that these accts are semi-old, what kind of effect is this going to have on my CB, is it worth the time? I mean I only need about 12 more points to qualify.

Also all of the TL's listed in someway are Sallie Mae, wether it actually says Sallie Mae or it has the same address as Sallie Mae.

If anyone is interested in taking a look, have at it, otherwise I feel I have accomplished some progress through lack of response.

Have you tried disputing any of these with the CRA's? I think I have some duplicate student loan bull going on too. If you haven't disputed I would try that first then go from there. If they can't verify, it must be removed.

Good luck!!

I have disputed them with the CRA's. And they have been verified and updated. Some of the accounts were still showing open, current accounts even though they have not been with them for a number of years. These have been closed out as, "paid, closed or transferred". I have not seen a trimerge report to see if this has reduced the amount of the debt that was showing on my report.

Also, one thing I found screwy which makes all these accts look duplicate is that the loans were being represented in two different fashions. and what I mean by that is TU, Exp were reporting say a loan for $5,500 as Sallie Mae then EQ would also report the loan with matching acct #'s but under the name SM servicing completely seperate

Does anyone know if there is away for them to all report under the same name so it does not appear to look duplicate?

How exactly did you dispute these accounts? Did you simply say not mine, duplicates or something else? The more specific you are when disputing TL's the better.

Typically if you have disputed with the CRA's and it has been verified/updated, then you would dispute directly with the FOI(furnisher of info).

And also these conversations you're having with Sallie Mae over the phone(my bet is not recorded)is not helpful in terms of creating a solid paper trail.

I was a little more vague when disputing them. The accts are mine. So did not want to represent that I had never had them. I felt like there were multiple issues with them and a major issue being that they were reporting as "transferred, current acct", or some variation of this as well as duplicating in a sense, that loans were being reported to two CRA's one way and the other a seperate way.

I simply asked them to verify these accts and properly report them after their investigation.

Now with this, a nold collection for a CC, and the school loan being held in collection has all been updated. CC has been reported as paid, I should of asked kindly for them to remove, to see if they were in the holiday spirit. ISAC (school loan collection) completely removed from CB, no signs of it whatsoever. And all Sallie Mae's updates. So it does not appear I have $75k in loans.

Between all this it raised all my scores roughly 20 pts. apeice.
