Default GW Letter or Dispute?

Okay, I have a question about two accounts, one was an auto loan that is paid off and closed a few years ago. I had a couple of late payments when going through a divorce that are still on my credit reports. I have tried to dispute in the past but it has come back verified. This has been about 3-4 years since I've tried to dispute. Would it be better to dispute it or send a good will letter to see if they would remove the late payments at this point? Also, I have a personal loan that I am still paying on that I had some late payments on as well after I lost a job a couple of years ago. I have been paying on time payments for well over two years now. I have never tried to do anything with this account through the creditor or CRA. Should I dispute the late charges or try to send a goodwill letter? Thanks...

I would start with a goodwill letter with both and go from there.
