Default CMRE-to remove?

I received an acceptance letter from a local hospital (Palomar Pomerado Health) that excuses me from all of my debt to them. It was a total of something like $4,000 or more.. I sent a copy of the letter to CMRE who was previously trying to collect on the debts.

All they did was change the amount to a $0 balance...but they have no right to even be on my credit report anymore, is that correct? They report as about 10 different accounts on both my experian and equifax (i think equifax removed them already) but they are obviously still very devastating. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Should they have to remove the accounts completely?
