Honestly, I think this may have been part of my b/k file anyway. How do I find out? Call the courthouse? So, they shouldn't be listing a balance and forwarding this to collections 6 years later if that is the case.
You would have to go into the courthouse in person to check.

well, I'm in another state now, so that won't be happening. Though I think it would be in my original b/k file if I can find?

anyway, I'll look - BUT, on a new note. I looked at the date of this old utility account and it said date opened in 2004. WELL, I moved from that state in 2003! So.... how can that be? Is this a game to them?? Because it is our credit they are destroying all for $79 - (WHICH, I would of paid, had I known or would of been contacted) Now, this year they sent it to collections.

I'm getting more ticked off by the second thinking of this.

Should I just call them??? Ask for billing and find out what the deal is?? And if I don't get answers then what. Isn't there a certain type of letter for this one? And how to I get the CA account off my credit? I've never heard of them and they haven't even contacted me once, HOW can they even report it??

Thanks - I'm venting it all on here! heehee. This is sooooo dang frustrating - I can hardly believe what they have done.

ha. Sad, but I'm actually hoping this account was part of b/k so I can sue their butts!

The utility company is actually reporting the wrong date? That's re-aging....and a violation.

So you may get a settlement yet out of these guys.
Maybe it's time you sent them an ITS letter. I would find out if it was IIB first though........that's even more firepower to add to your complaint.

Guess what???!!!!! OMG! So, I did some serious back searching on this utility bill that popped up on our credit.... well.... either though it was NOT listed in B/k - our old mortgage was part of it - we were NOT living in that house at the time so actually the bank was responsible for the bill at the time. They received a letter from me stating this along with my attorney's phone number. I also have notes back from 04 from the attorney that this utility company does this alot and he'll take action and send them a letter. So, I keep everything and I have a letter dated and signed with the account number from this utility company stating they had the wrong information and that our account does not have a negative report and the mistake was corrected as soon as they realized this.

So, this is great news!!!! But, I'm actually kinda confused on what to do next. It would seem odd for me to send them their own dang letter to prove a point or which letter should I send? And what about the collection agency that is also on the report??

Dah - In a way I'm dumb that I didn't look this up first. I wrote them a stupid goodwill letter when in all reality this was not our responsibility at the time anyway. So, that is what opened this all up. YET, I think this had always been on our report anyway and should of been removed.

Send copies of the letter to everybody and if this is not deleted within 30 days you have no choice but to file a civil suit.also tell them you just want it to go away because its doing serious damage to your credit history!

Yep! I agree. And since you don't owe it......(if this were me) I would be making phone calls and faxing letters too.......just so it gets there quicker and hopefully gets taken care of in a timely manner.
