Default Showing accounts twice

Yes hello there, I had a mortgage through CitiFinancial Mortgage since 11-2005, they then transferred the account to Citimortgage. But, the problem is that they are showing both accounts being opened in 11-2005. So, now all the lates from the first account show on the second also. They were just transfered again to another company (RCS) so now they both show open in 11-2005 and now both have a 0.00 balance. The only difference in the accounts is the name, I have disputred his, but they keep coming back verified. Any help you can suggest would be great.

Thank you,
Shelpster

If an account is transferred or sold.........then they both (or in your case all three) have the right to report it........BUT only one can report a balance. So as long as the previous to are reporting it as closed, they are correct.

If you do find any inaccuracies.....(like they still report it as open)....then you can dispute it with the CRAs. Just be aware that any time you dispute a TL ........negative or positive.........you have a chance of having the whole thing deleted. So unless it's something major making your score go down, you may want to contact the reporting company first.

What about if the OC sells the account to a CA and then you satisfy the debt with the CA. does the OC have to delete the information?

Example:

I owed WAMU $425. I offered to settle with their CA, RJM for $125 and have them make it satisfied in full and delete it form my report. they agreed and i paid. now WAMU is still reporting the balance of $425 open and seriously past due.

i just sent the letter and the cashed check to WAMU showing them that the debt has been satisfied. should they remove it now?

Trish, Thank you for getting back with me, I understand what you are saying, but the problem is the first one says transfered, but they both have the same opened date of 11-2005, the first one should, but the second should have an open date of 8-08. So all the lates from the first one are on the second also.

Ok, I was wondering about that..... unless it is the SAME company and maybe they just changed names? (pretty unlikely).......then I would dispute that. You're getting a double whammy if they are both reporting you late.
I would dispute that second on for sure........for incorrect date plus you were never late on that account.

If the oc sold then they report the balance as o,the ca reports it as 2500.00.so that's ok.Heres the kicker on that the oc can report the high balance as 2500.00 dollars,so that tells everyone that there is a balance of 2500.00,sneaky way hey.:D
