well i've found out that most of the accounts are still with the companies i owe and have not been sent to a separate collection agency. Unfortunately i do not have enough money to make them all current. What should i do? should i pay a couple of them to get current or would it be better to pay something to all of them. The problem is the balances are getting out of hand with late fees, overlimit fees, etc. is there any way to get them to stop with the fees? if i could do that i could probably catch up within a couple months and stay current. At that point i guess the goodwill letters would be the way to go to see if i could get them to take the late payments off. I appreciate all of your help.

I would try to bring as many current as possible and ask because of the economy a hardship for the rest.Like stopping the late fees as you have shown good faith with the others!

IMHO, the easiest way to pay these off quickly would be to look at the interest rates.
Write them all down.....in order highest to lowest according to interest rates (highest being on top)........THAT is the priority in which you should pay them off.
If you need to give them all a little at first to bring them all current.......then do that. That way you are not building up tons of late fees.........but then once you are caught up, put the larger chunks of money towards the ones with highest interest rates. That will end up saving you more money in the long run.
Then once you pay off the one on the top of your list.......just move down and pay the larger amounts that you can towards the next one........and so one until you can get them all paid.

HTH.
