Default Double reporting

Ok I'm sure I've asked this before, I just can't find the right thread, a OC cannot report twice on a report with both showing a balance, correct? If so, is this letter good enough to send off?

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing to dispute information on my credit report. The items I wish to dispute are listed below and also highlighted on the attached copy of my credit report .

The following is being reported by Transunion:
Account Number: **********
Condition: Derogatory
Balance: $4225
Type: Installment sales contract
Pay Status: Collection/Chargeoff

It is also being reported as the following with all three Credit Report Agencies:
Account Number: ****
Condition: Derogatory
Balance: $4053
Type: Installment sales contract
Pay Status: Collection/Chargeoff
Past Due: $3453
High Balance: $3511
Terms: 36 months
Limit:
Payment: $128
Opened: 08/30/2006
Reported: 02/28/2009
Responsibility: Joint

In accordance with the FCRA you are not allowed to report a debt twice and by doing so you are in violation of the FCRA. I request that you delete both accounts immediately.

They seem to try to make it look like 2 different accounts. However if they have the same account #dispute the one with the correct amount then later dispute the incorrect amount.

See this account was sent to a CA. This was all before I found this place so I didn't know about PFD, so we settled with them, so technically, it should show the account is closed right?

Should I just go ahead and send the letter I posted?

The CA is not reporting at all on our reports, but the OC is reporting twice, so I can't have that disputed?

If it is the same OC reporting a debt twice........then yes, most definitely go ahead and dispute them.

JJ has a good idea though. It might be even better if you just dispute one at a time. You might have a better chance at getting them both deleted.

Here's my thought on this if its reported twice then dispute the correct one which will take care of the good one. Wait then dispute the one with the wrong balance as incorrect and they might think yeah thats wrong.Just a thought.I sort of use my dh method he calls it the wag method.(wild ass guess).
