First off WOW awesome site, wish I would have found this 6 months ago... Please give me suggestions, im stuck in my lame repair attempts... FICO 629 (574 six months ago) Heres what I cant make dissappear... 1- collection agency (medical) active Dec 2003 reported 2008... owe $713 2- collection agency (originally from Capital one) paidoff 2008 3- capital one (bad/debt collection) 2003 (transferred/sold)^ 4- discover card (closed) 60 days past due 2005 paidoff 5- jcpenney (120 past due) 2004 closed paidoff Ive basically eliminated all my debt except for #1, do I have any hope of getting these off my report or am I stuck waiting them out.. Ive disputed all of them and they have come back verified... I wish I would have done pay to remove for #2 but its too late now... Any suggestions would be great thanks cribbin' |

Welcome cribbin ![]() Good job so far getting your score up! There are some things that are just really tough to remove. 1. If this is a medical collection, you should try the HIPAA process. It will almost guarantee to get the CA off. Many have used this route and had great success. You would have to pay off the debt though. Read here......and then let me know if you have any questions. 2. Is this reporting correctly? Since you have paid them.....you don't have as much leverage to get it off........but it is possible. My strategy with paid collections is to be a pleasant PITA. Basically, calling them and asking why this hasn't been removed yet (be polite and stay calm) because that was the deal you had made (right? ). Keep after them......call them every day if you have to and see if you can get on their nerves enough to make them want you to go away. Plus in the meantime, keep disputing it. *p.s. a lot of CAs will say it's illegal to delete TLs.......and that's BS. It's totally voluntary to report to CRAs..........OR they could simply NOT verify the TL the next time you dispute it. 3. I can tell you right now, Crap One will be the hardest to get off. You need to look carefully at the way they are reporting (post it if you want to - just leave out personal info) and find errors. With 4 & 5, it's the lates you need to get off. You can try disputing the lates if you haven't already. The other thing to try is a goodwill letter. You need to be persistent with these. Some people have had to write several letters before finding a sympathetic ear..........and some have even found the CEO or President's address and sent them letters. It can be done. Hope that helps some. |

Just got off the phone with CA (#2)... I told them I was looking at my report and noticed that item wasnt removed as we discussed upon setting up payment plan. Guy laughed and told me noone would have told me that, and it is illegal to remove item. I told him that I thought it was voluntary and he told me its called the "fair credit act"...

Check on those dates. Do you remember only having the card 2 months? If you have any old statements or paperwork, dig into them and see if you can find the correct dates. That would be something worth disputing... Like I said, it may be tough to get off but there is a certain protocol for tackling OCs (especially Crap One)......you have to start with disputing. If you can catch them in a mistake, it is to your advantage. |
