I have three small accounts that I'm in the position to pay off now. I plan on using the form letter (pay for delete) first but my question is this... An account is acquired thru company A. It is being collected by company B. If I reach an agreement and pay off company B how would both accounts look? What happens to company A? What if all goes wrong and I just reach an agreement with company B and pay it off and that one shows as resolved, will company A go away or will it show the same? Soooo confusing... |

Company A will continue to report it the same way. (probably transferred/sold/charge off, etc.) You will have to dispute it separately and/or communicate with them. If company B doesn't agree to delete.......then don't pay them. (unless it is within SOL and they can sue you) A debt/collection acct showing paid is no better than unpaid. It will not improve your score AT ALL. |
