Default How can i remove previous addresses from the cra's?

Does anyone have a proven and fast way to remove previous addresses from the credit bureaus? A sample letter and how to would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

You can either write them a letter stating you have no knowledge of the previous addresses or you can simply dispute online as "never lived there".

Here are the dispute pages for each CRA;

Disputing online may be OK for disputing personal information such as your addresses or phone numbers, but it's not recommended if you plan to dispute anything else.

It's important to note that it's probably best to write them. It's probably ok to dispute addresses online, but everything else should be disputed in writing.

You want to keep a paper trail of every communication with the CRA.

Not to go against what these guys are saying....

But the last few times that I tried to dispute addys online, they wouldn't let me. Something like......."for security reasons, you must dispute personal info in writing or call"

I am also very adamant about getting EVERYTHING in writing.........BUT for addresses........if you are wanting to get them off quickly so you can start your regular disputes, you can call them. Although that is pretty much the only time I would suggest calling instead of writing. And they may still want proof of ID mailed to them.

If you write them, just put it in your own words, short and simple.

"I am disputing the following addresses on my CR because I never lived there..........please delete them from my record and send me an updated copy of my report"

Something like that anyway.

Also if you do it in writing, send them proof of SS# and current address.
Previous utility bill and SS card or W-2 (with earnings blacked out) should work. That way they don't have any excuses to drag their heels.

Let me start by saying hello and thank you everyone...

As far as sending in documentation, I did in fact live there, but want to remove them for future benefits. What is the minimum docs I should/could send? I really do not want to send in any more info on myself than I have to...

Hello

Those 2 things I mentioned above are the only things they would need.........and actually (unless things have changed in the past couple of years), from what I remember, it's only EQ that asks for that routinely.

If you have recent copies of your CRs, you might want to just try calling them first. When I first started repairing that's what I did and most of my addys/personal info were deleted/updated within a few days.

Don't worry if you actually did live there......still just say you didn't. Otherwise they will leave it on there.

Oh....p.s.......and don't go nuts if EX doesn't remove many of them. They are the toughest at deleting personal info. If any address is tied to one of the debts being reported (positive OR negative TL), they will flat out refuse to remove it. So do what you can. Get as much deleted as possible (including any name, SS variations, phone numbers, employment info, etc) and then move on to your other disputes once they have updated your CRs.
