Hello Board: I'm in the process of writing dispute letters to the 3 major CRA's. Between the 3 agencies, I have about 17 letters to send out. My question is: Should I send a few at a time, like every other week or send them all out at one time? Will it seem too fishy to send them all at once? Thanks... |

Well, i actually just went thru this process and what i did was send all of the validation letters to the CA's at once, certified (pricey but effective) then i just put all of what i was disputing with each CRA on the same paper. for example, i sent a letter to Transunion that had 15 disputes. hope this helps! |

Some people will dispute everything and see what drops (a blanket dispute) and actually have luck with this. I usually only dispute like 3 or 4 things at a time (in one letter). Whatever you do, after submitting a dispute, you must wait until you receive your results back before sending out another dispute letter. Say you send TU a letter disputing TLs #1, #2 and #3. Then you send out another dispute a week later disputing items #4, #5 and #6. They not only can flag you as frivolous......but they can add 15 days onto the first dispute because you sent them "new information"......even though the 2nd dispute had nothing to do with the 1st one. The more time they have to verify TLs, the less your chances are of getting a delete. I hope that makes sense. |

Thanks for the reply's. Would a "blanket dispute" be a letter with 5 disputes? Is that too much to ask to be disputed at once? I've gotten my 3 letters written, but am really nervous about sending them. In 2 letters I'm disputing 3 accounts and in 1 letter I have 5 disputed accounts (I could take a few off). In my letters I didn't use your standard dispute letter. I just stated that I was turned down for a Home Mortgage and was given a copy of my report and was advised to dispute the accounts with the reporting angecies (which is all true). I listed each account with a brief explanation of what's being disputed and requested that each dispute be verified or removed from my report. I believe my disputes are legit, as long as they take me serious. I used "please" and "respectfully" as often as I could and I didn't use any FCRA language. I tried to keep it as simple and normal as possible...Hopefully this works... Oh...should I send a copy of my drivers license, for proof of identification? I would like for this to go off without any hiccups...if possible. |

A blanket dispute is when you dispute ALL of your TLs. Disputing 5 things should be fine. It is a good idea to send proof of ID. EQ loves to stall that way by asking for more info before investigating. Send a copy of a current utility bill showing your current addy and then also a copy of either your SS card or a W-2 (be sure to black out your earnings - they don't need to see that). Also the best thing to do, IMHO, is either handwrite your dispute or put it in purple or teal italic font. That way their computers can't scan it and an actual human will have to read it. Either send it regular mail or CM only (not RR). And don't worry. No need to be nervous. The worse they can do is verify it and it stays on your CR........and if that does happen, then you need to go to the furnisher......the one reporting. So let us know how it goes and keep us posted. ![]() Oh....one more thing. It's always a good idea to get your personal info updated FIRST (addys, name variations, etc). Dispute everything except for your current address. If you are in a hurry you can just call them to do that. It just makes it one less thing to tie to a negative TL and may make it easier to get some of those debts deleted. Good luck! |
