Smile negatives from credit union

We have belonged to the same Credit Union for 35 years. Many car loans, Mortgs., checking acts, savings acts. etc. Almost 2 years ago my husband and I had some bad luck and fell behind on a car loan and our heloc. (late pymts for 3 months) We went to our C.U. and told them our problems and within a three month period we became current with our loans again. That was the only time in 35 years that we were late with our payments.

When I pulled our CR's to see what they looked like, I saw that our CU reported late pymts for that time period. I was surprised to see that they reported these late pymts, especially since we went in to explain our problem and became current fairley fast.

Has anyone ever succeeded in having their CU remove late pymts? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Go back to your credit union tell the manager your problem's and since your a long time customer you would like to have it removed.if they don't you have the option of removing your funds.

I agree with JJ. Look at your relationship with your bank as a business relationship. You have been doing business with them for 35 years. If after that long of a business relationship they are not willing to forgive and forget a few late payments, then it's time to end your relationship with them and let everyone you know how they treat 35 year old business partners.

I would also send a letter to the president of the CU and anyone else who will listen. Maybe even send a letter to your local newspaper.

I agree about letting anyone you can know about your situation. I never needed my CU to remove late pmts, but I know people who have had success. Good luck!

The credit union my wife work's for is faithbased however she's the only one there that doesn't belong to the church anyway they bend over backward's to work with you even accepting payments far lower than most, until you get on your feet,as long as you keep paying however thats not to say they wouldn't repo, foreclose etc.it's their last resor.they will work with you.
