Question Life after 7&7 "7yrs&Chapter 7"

Eight years ago I had surgery to remove a bone that was pre-cancer at a young age of 23.
At a cost of 78k bucks, after insurance paid I was stuck with 25k not a lot I guess..... , but at 23 was a kings fortune. I also had lost a lot of work and bought food and paid utility bills on credit cards to about 10k. After about 7 months of trying to keep payments up to date my interest rates where as high as the law would allow.
I filled Chapter 7, I felt dirty that I had too, but at the time my kids were 3 and 1 and needed to make a new start fast for them.
So for the last seven years I've been healthy and have rebuilt my credit by watching it like a hawk. I was late 30 twice in seven years when I changed jobs, not too bad.
Well here is my question:
I have a 680 with the big 3 and all the "included in BK" stuff has dropped off but, the public record about BK still remains.
I got turned down for new home insurance right now I pay “WAY” too much because the dang BK so I thought after 7 years I could get a better rate.
What should I do? I need to get a better rate but BK kills the deal with most all guys. Some won’t mess with a person that ever filled a BK.
Also if you are thinking about filling make sure you are ready for the ride, it not easy if you can find a way around it then make it happen.

Also When I filled in 2001 I thought that the law was ch 7 fell off after 7 yrs I know in 05 the laws changed am I just wong about the whole thing or what?

Dispute the bankruptcy with all of the CRAs reporting it. I got mine removed from my credit reports. I filed in 2005.

It should be EASY to get removed if it is 7 years old.
