If your credit isn't good enough to get an unsecured credit card, you will have to get a secured one.The way it works it that you put money down up front for what you want your limit to be. Say, you give them $1,000 and then they give you a Visa card with a $1,000 limit. That way they are covered if you default on your payments because they already have the money. After awhile when your credit goes up and they can trust you better, they will give you an unsecured card and refund your $1,000.Good luck with your credit.

First contact Bank of America and get a secured card from them. I would recommend that you open a checking account with them so that your payments process faster and you will be able to make transfer in/out of both accounts. The annual fee is only 29.00 per year and it comes with benefits such as collision damage waiver on car rentals. Also, they will review your account in 9 months - 1 year to possibly graduate it to a unsecured account. At which time, they will refund your deposit to you.Stay away from the "fee harvester" cards such as First Premier, Continental Finance, Aspire, Total and the list goes on and on. They offer no real benefits and they take alot of fees. The total amount of fees for the first year can be close to 250.00. Of course, that does not include the 4.95-8.95 every time you make an onlinee payment. They hold payments forever and never ever give more than 250.00 - 300.00 initially. They are a total ripoff and people need to stop opening these accounts. If you are not crazy aboud BofA, go to Wells Fargo or Citibank. They also have secured cards. Good luck.
