Most credit unions are local. Where do you live?

US Bank does use that system, but they also claim (at least on the signs I've seen when I go in there) that they'll give you a second chance even if you've got a record with CheckSystems. I've been banking a USB for a long time and really like the folks there.

Because you can still overdraw a savings account, any bank that won't open a checking account for you probably won't open a savings account either. Instead of trying to find a bank that doesn't check this system, try to find a bank that is understanding and willing to take the risk. As long as the reported information isn't recent (less than a year), then you can probably find an institution like this. This will be easier to find than a bank that doesn't check Check Systems.Alternatively, you could always try to make good on what you owe to another bank. Then get a letter stating you have paid your NSF off since this will not be reported to Check Systems immediately.
