Default Why pay for credit scores?

Why do credit bureaus make you pay for your credit score when you can you get your report for free? Or at the very least your credit score costs more. Why is that? Does anyone know the formula they use to figure your score? They treat your score as sacred and don't want to give it to you.

By law, you can get a report for free once per year or if you have been denied credit. Certain websites also offer free reports as a promotion. That is the only time you can get them free. So basically, the credit bureaus give you the reports for free because they have to.

But, they don't have to give you your scores. So naturally, they charge you for them. And unless you get them from MyFICO.com, they are FAKO's, which means they are not necessarily even accurate.
