View credit score for free?

Where can I call or go online to view my credit score for free? I'm looking to find out my score so I can tell lenders but all the ones that I go to, u have to have a credit card. I have none and can't get it so please someone help me!!

There is no website that you can find out your credit score for free. You can go to www.annualcreditreport.com to get your credit report for free, but you have to pay about $7 to view your score. Also, FYI lenders may quote you rates based on credit score, however all in all, any lender you apply with will have to pull your credit anyway, thus, they'll find out your score. I do mortgage loans for a living and have people tell me their scores all the time and it really goes in one ear and out the other because half of the time they're completely wrong. It's certainly a good idea to view your credit report prior to doing an appliation so you can check for accuracy, but if you do for sure want to see your score you're going to have to pony up some cash.

The only place to get your report for free is annualcreditreport.com. You can't get a free score anywhere on earth...sorry. But if I were you I would do 2 things right now before even considering a home loan. Get an account with a credit monitoring service. I use truecredit.com. they offer a service where you can check your report and score once a day for like 14 bucks a month. The scores are always much lower than they would be in a mortgage brokers office but at least you know where you stand. Also, make a credit profile and get a credit card. How do you expect to get a loan for 100k if you don't have one credit card. banks don't loan to you if you havent had a loan before...Unless they want to crush your pockest with high interest rates. And don't get those crap "Pre-Approved" cards that offer you 300 bucks if you give them a $99 activation fee along with a $59 annual fee. These cards do more harm then good. There are several ways to get good cards but explaining would require that I write a book. Bank of America has an ok card. You have to give them a $99 "deposit" but you get that back after 1 year and they turn a secured credit card into and unsecured and often raise your limits. Also, make sure you don't apply for more than one card at a time. The inquiries will kill your credit especially if you are already in a "sub-prime" position (650 and lower). You can also find a mortgage broker that you know and ask if you can get a copy of the report they pull for you. That will let you know how lenders will see you.
