Call the credit card company?

I have heard that you can call a credit card company and request a better interest rate. Is this true?

If you call them, some credit card companies will lower your rate based on credit score and the amount of revolving debt you carry, provided you have not been late or maxed out your card with them in the last 6 months. They will check your credit again, though.

Some will some won't the credit card company I used to work for will not, but some will so it is always worth asking!

Call and see. If you are a good client and the alternative is you moving to a different card, then they will try to keep you.

if youve had the credit card for at least a year and all your payments have been on time you can call and request a lower interest rate. They probably will ask why you want to do this just tell them you want to save some money.
