Default Does Anyone use a Credit Union?

What is a credit Union? How does it help you? And what are some good ones? Can you use a Credit Union to help a debt that is listed as a public record in your credit history?

I bank with a credit union. Advantages I have seen are lower interest rates on loans, slightly higher interest rates paid on balances, and low to no fees. The big disadvantage though is the limitation on branch locations. My credit union only has technical branches in GA and MI and I live in Florida :P.

Hi! I work for a credit union in Oregon and the benefits of using a credit union are lower interest rates on loans and higher interest rates on savings. Credit unions are not as strict as a bank especially if you have a relationship with them. When you apply don't try and hide anything though tell them upfront and find out what your options are. If you credit union is anything like we are they are usually very understanding.
