My wife and I had moved from a place without giving a notice and it went to collection, The collection got a judgment and garnished my wifes check It has been paid to them and it still shows up as unpaid on both her and my reports! My question is what should I do? Dispute with the CRA or do a 1-2 punch or a GW letter saying you got your money now take it off? |

They need to file notice to the court of satisfaction of the judgment. However, satisfaction of the judgment wont result in its deletion from your CR, so is not a major issue, other than upon a manual review of your CR, You want notice to others that the debt was satisfied. AS for their reporting on the collection itself, they are required to have reported the collection as closed with $0 balance due. If they did not update their own reporting, they have failed to meet the requirement of accuracy of their reporting. I would first call them and give them some time to just file an update. If that does not get results, send them a direct dispute under FCRA 623(a)(8) for inaccuracy of their reporting of both an open collection and a balance due. |
