I have a medical collection that I had paid to the OC. I'm trying to get the CA deleted now and they are claiming that a payment in full was received by their office. This is NOT true. I paid the OC the remaining balance over the phone because we needed to see the Dr. and they required payment prior to scheduling an appt. I didn't know they had sent it to collections until this time when we were denied an appointment. So I paid the OC over the phone. Then a year later I am disputing the CA who is claiming I paid them. So I know that since it went to Collection prior to my paying the OC they are not obligated to delete the CA. BUT, is there any recourse to their claim that I made payment to the collection agency? Because I certainly did not pay them as I had no knowledge it had even been sent to collections. |

I really don't see that it matters. Either way, both the OC and debt collector must update their account reporting to reflect $0 owed or under collection. So it looks the same in your CR either way. Since both acknowledge that it was paid, then the debt is gone, and thus any further collection or legal action. FICO does not score either payment or nonpayment of debt, or who it is paid to. I would only be concerned that both the OC and debt collector have reported a $0 balance. |
