Cool HELP!! Old CA issue!

I have an account with the DOLA 10/6/2005. A CA has reported on my credit report with an opening date of July 2010. Can they do that? The account is from 2005. Shouldnt it be off my account within 7years from the DOLA? or does this mean it will be off 7 yrs from the the CA's opening date?

I think they can, because that's when the debt was sold to them. Have you tried to get it removed?

Default oh nooo!!!!

Yes I disputed it with 1 2 punch and they sent back verification of the account. It shows last activity in 2005. Maybe I should opt for a pay to delete?

Yea, I am the type of guy to dispute it 10-20 times until it comes off. I never stop disputing. So, I would probably try disputing it again. I just reword it or dispute it differently. There are many ways to dispute it.

But, if you just want to be done with it offer a PFD.

One thing you may want to try is looking the SOL for the state where you opened the account. If the debt is outside of the SOL I don't think they can legally try to collect on it. If you send a DV letter and find its it is SOL since the DOLA, they are would have to remove it.

SOL is a legal defense you must raise in court. Expiration of SOL is determined soley by the court, and not you or the creditor. The creditor is not barred, in most states, from bringing legal action outside of SOL, and is certainly not the party who makes any SOL determinations. Assertions in a dispute that you are outside of SOL have no relevance to credit reporting or CR deletions.
