I was served, but I'll be moving to a new state in a week. I'm supposed to provide an answer to the summons within 30 days. What do I do? I can't put off this move, nor can I afford to come back to this state after I move to dispute this in court. What are my options here? BTW, I live in GA.

Call the court and see if you can get it rescheduled. You have to show up for court. You do not want a default judgment.

A court date hasn't been scheduled yet. They'll do that once I send in my answer, but if I don't answer, they will get a default judgment. I'm lost here. I move in less than a week!!

Do you actually owe the debt? Is there a reason to fight the soon to be default judgment?

I owe the debt, but right now I have no way to pay it. I lost my job and my apartment. That's why I left GA. It's too late now anyway. Like I said, I left GA now, so guess I'll get my keister handed to me.
