Haven't heard from collection agency

Hello,

I have been trying to clean up my credit report for some time. I negotiated with a collection agency called Northland Group on a settlement. When we agreed on the terms they stated in the letter that once payment was received they would close the account and send a settlement letter. Payment was then forwarded by certified funds. Two weeks went by and I never heard from them. I went to my bank to see if it had been cashed. It had not been cashed so I sent Northland a letter stating the payment would be cancelled if not cashed and the settlement letter sent. They then cashed the check on 10/20/10. I never received a letter and this account is still open and reporting on my report. On 11/5/10 a company called Greystone Alliance LLC pulled my credit report. Again on 11/7/10 it was pulled by the same company. I then started to receive calls throughout the day from this company. Today I received a letter stating they are collecting for a agency called Zenith Acquisistions Corp for the same account I paid Northland Group.

Im hoping someone can advise me of what I can do. I already have dispute letters ready to go to the bureaus over the continued reporting of the northland account, but now that another company is trying to collect on the same account that I already paid I am unsure of what to do now.

I would dispute all accounts and send the CA that is trying to collect a cease and desist letter.
