I sent a DV letter to ca at the address provided on my cr. It was returned to me today with a stamp that said "forwarding time has expired". Now what? It has a new address for me to mail it to, but im wondering if Im obligated to track down the ca at an address not provided on my cr. any advice would be appreciated. |

What I would do is send a letter to the CRA telling them that you tried to contact them at the address they provided and that you got that notice. You may even want to show them that notice. Then, tell them that you want the items deleted immediately. I believe it's states somewhere in the FCRA that the contact information on your credit report must be accurate or they must delete it, but I'm not exactly sure where. You may want to look for that. If that doesn't work, I would report them to the FTC and your state general, then probably try to hunt down the CA and tell them to remove it from your credit report immediately unless they want to get sued.

Thanks Chane. I sent a copy of the returned CMRRR to the CRA and ask that they investigate and delete this account. I have been unable to find proof of their surety bond for the state of texas also. I started repairing my credit in july '10. Beginning with a total of 14 negative accounts with some in collections and a credit score of 553. Now I am currently down to 3 negative accounts and a score of 575 with EXP. 2 of these last 3 accounts are with the same CA, which are proving difficult to get removed. But when I succeed..my score will go up 60 pts! woohooo! |
