Default How to hangle a credit agency????

Hi everyone,

As everyone else here i need advice, just not sure where else to turn.

First of all, Bally Total Fitness is a horrible company and I would not ever join if I were you. I joined, should have read the fine print, but didnt. My fault, but done deal. I moved and they would not let me cancel if there was another one in a 25 mile radius which unfort there was. So anyway I am now at the point where the balance (large balance) has gone to collections. Please keep in mind this is from a few years ago. I am so frusterated and broke right now due to other bills, etc. Alliance One keeps calling me and I have yet to call them back because I am scared. I know that I will not even be able to afford a "settlement" price right now and just do not know how to handle it. I am fully aware that my credit has been "messed" up already and unforutnately i cannot change that yet. I just would like to figure out the best way to handle Alliance, as every week it is over my shoulder and i am worrying, yet I have other bills that I am paying, etc. They stopped calling for a while and then just last week they started up again but have not left any voicemails this time.

Any ideas on the best way to handle this at this point?

Thank you SO Much

My first piece of advice is not to let those CAs make you life hell. From my experience, their bark is usually way worse that their bite. If you just cannot stand the phone calls anymore, I know of a couple of options.

I would recommend ignoring Alliance until you have done a lot of reading and understand the laws. If you must do something now, I would recommend looking at the 1-2 punch or cease and desist letter. You can search for each of them on this site and learn the pros and cons of each.
