Hello, I have a debt that I'm paying off to a collection agency for a credit card that was "charged off". I owe $270 and was planning to pay it off in a lump payment, but then recently learned of "pay for delete". I'm wondering whether or not pay for delete would be the best course of action for me, since I've already been making payments to this company. I have made late payments to them in the past. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

Yes, and in fact, in your letter you should say that you learned that it could still report and that you will not make any further payments until you have in writing that they will remove it from all 3 credit report once the balance reaches $0. ![]() And seriously, if they don't agree...stop paying.

Thanks Chane, OK, I'll put together a letter saying just this. I forgot to note this last night, but there was also a default judgement on file associated with this account. Approximately how long does it take to go through this process? |

I have no idea how long it will take. Sorry.
