Default LVNV are wrong I believe

I had a Best Buy credit card for 2500.00 in 2007, and unfortuatly for the past couple years work has been very slow. So in mid 2008 I was unable to make payments, and I was barely keeping my head above water. So as time progressed the debt owed to Best Buy was put to collections. I have had 3 different collectors send me paperwork saying that I owe and theres 2 different account numbers, and the dollar ammount is NEVER the same. I was told in March 2010 that I was being filed on and taken to court, just to recieve a letter shortly after that saying that if I paid the lump sum of $00.00 all my debt would be cleared. So I responded to that by saying that I would pay $00.00 and that I was happy that debt was cleared. I thought maybe it was my lucky day. I then recieve a letter telling me to disregard the last letter I recieved that it was done in error. Now yesterday my spouse was served papers saying that Im being sued. There is no court date on this paper and its quite confusing for me. What should I do?

It depends. If you are really getting sued, like you have a real court date...show up or negotiate a deal with them. Try to negotiate a pay for delete. Whatever you do, don't let them get a default judgment on you. That will be another 7 year negative on your credit report.

Try to get the PFD in writing.
