I received a collection letter from National Recovery Agency and the amount listed was incorrect. I immediately sent a Cease & Desist letter. They received the letter and I have the return receipt showing the receipt. The letter contains the following paragraph: Furthermore, if any adverse information is placed on my credit reports by your agency, I will file suit against your organization to seek any and all legal remedies available to me by law. This was in July of 2009. I now see that the placed a collection item on my credit report. What are my next steps. Can they legally report this to the CRA after a Cease & Desist letter? The amount they have reported to the CRA is incorrect as it does not include payments made to the original creditor before it was placed for collection. Ultimately I want it removed from my report. it is the only collection listed on my report. I would appreciate any recommendations on my next steps to have this removed. Thank you Dan |
