Collection Agency is giving me the run around
My son received 3 parking tickets while driving a car that I own. The total was $254. I paid the 1st ticket $104, 2nd ticket for $75. Checked with my bank to make sure both had cleared my account before sending the 3rd for $75. Bank said they both cleared, but I received a letter from the collection agency handling these tickets, stating that I owed for $150 dollars. I contacted them and inquired about the $75 ticket. They said they never received payment. I told them about it clearing through my bank. They wanted me to send a cop of the canceled check from the bank, which I did. I mailed this, they said they can't find any record so they asked that I fax it. I did this and called back 2 days later and asked if they received it because I have my confirmation sheet. They said they have no record of it ever being received, nothing posted.
I have spoken to reps and supposedly managers and I am totally frustrated. I don't want to send the last payment of $75 because they may say the same thing. What should I do?
