Default Why would a debt collector lie about their address?

I received notice from a debt collector that I owe a debt ( they state they are the successor of Bank of America) they have their name and address on the notice. I wrote to them and attempted to have them verify the debt. They then handed it over to a law office. The long and the short of it is they have the same address as the law firm, yet they use a different one on their letters to me I found this by googleing and going to map quest. Why would they lie about their address?

That's what slime balls do. It makes it look like their big firm with different locations. Don't be mislead it's the same business, some may have up to ten names.

Thanks JJ, I thought as much. I just wanted to know because they are claiming on the court papers that their corp has its principle place of business at a P.O. Box in a different town. The phone number is the same for both addresses. Wouldn't this be considered lying to the court?

This is actually pretty funny. These COLLECTION PEOPLE who happen to have the same office as their lawyer....LOL sent court papers....Now for the last year I have been trying to get them to validate this alleged debt and they have failed to do so. Number 3 on the complaint states something like this. "We have not received the statements from the original creditor at this time.....BUT WE ARE SURE THAT IF WE CAN GET THE MISSING STATEMENTS, THEY WILL VERIFY THIS DEBT.":eek::eek::eek:

They do have no leg to stand on. Again what is the name of the collections company? You have to be careful with some of collections companies some companies are big scam artists . Some will go to send you fake court docs. I would call if you haven't already the court house and make sure that those docs are real if they are from a county court house or local? If the court doc are from thier office only they might fake. The law states you must be suied in the state you are from. That's according to the FDCPA. Please don't sign anything you send to them just send letters requesting information still. Don't agree to pay them anything.
If thier is an attorney name make sure that the attorney is registered . A lot of these collectors pretend to have attorneys working for them when they are not.
This is how they bully you to pay your bill when they have no leg to stand on and don't veryify the bill.

JUST LOOKING OUT FOR YA
