Default Security Credit Services

Okay, this company is basically a junk debt buyer of old accounts. They purchased an old credit card account of mine that was charged off about three years ago after I lost my job. I had since made payments to the credit card company and thought I had settled the debt. It states on my credit report payment after charge off on this account. I have disputed this account with the two CRA's that it's listed with and it comes back verified and correct. This is irritating because the collection agency will not respond to my three debt validation letters that I sent them. I did sent them via certified mail so I filed a complaint with my AG's office and I mailed copies of everything to them today. I asked the CRA's what type of verfication they received but they will not respond. What else can I do?

The collection agency is Security Credit Services and yes it was pif to the original creditor after charge off. Does that make a difference? I just don't understand how they can keep it on my credit report when they have not honored my validation requests.

Do collection agencies that "buy" collections actually have a right to come after me for money? What if I put the collection in a bk? Can the collector assign it to someone else after the discharge date?
