Verizon Wireless and a collection agency are reporting the same account monthly. I wrote a validation letter to the CA via certified mail 2 months ago with no response. I filed a dispute with the Credit reporting agencies and they say that they have verified the debt. I dont know where to go from here. It is showing as 2 negatives on my report for the same account which is not even mine. I have used Verizon for 9 years now with the same number in Arizona and this number was to an address is Florida.

I have contacted them and they say that they have no information on the account because it was charged off and sold to pinnacle financial. Does a CA have to respond within 30 days of your validation letter. I sent mine out and they were received on April 4. I have not heard anything from them. Is the OC allowed to report it as well as the CA?

Trish and JJJgross... You are very knowledgeable and helpful. Greatly appreciated. I do not know what the 1 2 punch is but it seems like I might have done it without knowing. I just disputed the account to the CRA about 2 weeks ago, but I sent my verification letter to the CA almost 2 months ago. Does that change things?

| If this is a cell phone they can't collect on it.Cell phones are uncollectible after 2 years. So you can tell the ca to go away little man. However i still would talk to some one at Verizon because there's something wrong. |

So if that is what happened (which is what it sounds like) then as long as you have proof of your dispute and DV letter (CM receipts/RR card). Then you should send the CA a DV2. You can also dispute it with the CRAs again when you do that. If it happens again you have them on violations and can turn around and sue them.
