Actually looking back at post... did you dispute this item with CB's yet???

I'd do that first and see if they just fall off!

I don't understand the laws, etc. so maybe I shouldn't advise you to pay for something that you shouldn't have to pay. I'm just thinking for the purpose of getting this removed from credit. maybe it should be a last resort type deal though.

Dispute it or dispute it again if you have already with all CB's and see what happens. Dispute as unknown or inaccurate and see what happens.

The sol on phones is 2 years they can not collect and if they sued they would have it dismissed and then you can counter sue period. They don't have a case period. If they don't want to play they get no pay period.

Unhappy

Okay I am a little stuck at the fork in the road. Here it is:

Okay after a long process here is what happened:

(1) I did a 1-2 Punch by Sending a DV lettter to AFNI (CA) and then disputed a Verizon Account as No knowledge with the CA's. On June 29th, I received a letter from AFNI showing the balance of my last bill of $126.00 from 1/2005. Two days ago, I received a letter from Equifax (dated July 1st) stating that "they verified that the account is being reported correctly. If I have any document that release me from this obligation, please forward a copy to them". Now today I received a letter from AFNI stating the following: "AFNI is investigating your dispute related to the above account and AFNI has informed the credit reporting agencies that the account is disputed. The final resolution of the disputed account has been delayed due to the insufficient information provided. AFNI request additional informaton so that we may conclude the investigatoin. We will complete our investigation within 30 days of receipt of the following information": (1) The specific information being disputed, (2)An explanation of the basis of your dispute, (3)A valid phone number to contct you, (4)All Supporting documentation to substantiate your claim: (ex: Photocopy of your drivers license, proof of residency at the time of service, receipts, etc)

Experian investigation for the same account came back: "Reviewed" The page shows reviewed means the following: "The item was either updated or deleted; Read this report to learn it's outcome. When I turn over to the back page, 2 other accounts that I disputed were listed with the results but nothing shows anything for AFNI on this one.

So I am confused: Did Experian really delete the account? Also it sems as if Equifax verified such information but then days later I receive a leeter from teh CA stating that they investigstion was never comlpeted. Any suggestions
Any information will be greatly appreciated

well, we gotta get you unstuck!

Experian 's responses are odd (as most) - mine come back like that too. though they seem to send a full report as well in which you'll be better able to tell what they did. (if anything)

Equifax is confusing to me too. But, they give me the runaround too, wanting copies of this or that - DL, etc. to delay things it seems. Equifax is easy to get a credit report on-line by going to their site (I just did today) just click on dispute and/or get credit file (reasoning being turned down for credit) and you can view your report.

I'd try to do the same for Experian and try and see if you can see where they both stand for sure. I know with Equifax they never sent me a new report, just list of items verified or deleted and even then when I finally looked on-line I got to see what they really did (which I don't think even reflects what they sent be!) but, oh well.

I'd check the reports and dispute again.

Oh, don't give the AFNI CA ANY information!!! To me, after reading your post again and them wanting the info from you, that they possibly may not have anything on you anyway!!!! THEY should have this info!!!!!! They shouldn't be asking YOU for it!!?? hey? That is odd, so I do believe things can be looking up to your favor.

Thanks for the response improving. So would you send them a DV2 letter stating that I have provided them the necessary information to validate the account? And since Equifax stated that they verified the information, even thou days later I received a letter from the CA stating that they needed more information to validate, it it best to send Equifax a letter asking for the method of verification? Or should I send them a copy of the letter from the CA stating that they are unable to complete the validation and need more time?

These people are suppose to be doing the leg work not you. They already have your address do not send them your SSI, Or DL ECT. They don't need it always communicate via Postal service then everything is in writing.

Is this verizon account showing up on credit report as verizon or under AFINI?
As far as the proof of residencey when they sent you the DV did they send you a copy of the verizon bill? this should have your old address on it! This is proof of your past address. Or did they send you a computer print out?because if they did this is not a valid means of validation of a debt.
When they bought this debt from verizon past payment information whould have been past down to them. They have information it's their job to have it just in case they need to take a client to court. If they don't have it it's incomplete.
Then they can't validate your information.
If you do decide you want to pay this you can.
You need to make sure you pay it in check via certified mail
no credit card or money order this shows no proof of payments.
you can get this in the positive on your credit report once you payit
have it in writing with them via certified mail to all 3 credit agencies work it out with them!
get it in writing have them send you a signed copy
keep all records

hello leather,

To answer your questions:

1. The Verizon information is showing up as AFNI
2. The first time they sent me a DV letter, they did include a computer print out of a past bill, which was over 2 years old, and it did show my previous address.
3. Then weeks later I receive a letter asking me to send them more information even though my credit reports came back verified.

Default verizon

Check the Sol in your state since this is from 2005 and reading past posts. This might past the statute of limitations 1st off. 2nd they sent you a computer print out that is not a valid proof of debt. Proof of debt if an actual copy of the bill.
I would contact verizon again speak to a super or manager if you real want to pay them for this don't deal with afini.
Thier is a web site called bud hibbs look up afini read about thier history. They are known scam artists you might not want to deal with them anyway.
