Default Medical Bills that are in collections...?

I have a few negative items left on my report. They are a

paid judgement in 2004 but filed in 2002 from a cc company &

unpaid judgement from a hospital filed in 2006

there are 5 collection agency items from medical bills that arent mine. Someone was using my name. Each CR has different dates for them. One says date updated 9/2008, date placed in collections 5/2004 & I'm certain this one occurred well before 2001 b/c the person using my name was bragging in the neighborhood how she did it. I really shouldve dealt w/ this sooner but I havent had credit in so long& I didnt know I had that many rights until recently. My questions are: Is it violating HIPPAA laws for a medical creditor to give my info to a CA? Can medical collections be updated? Where do they get their dates from? Most of the dates on all of my CR's are way too recent. I havent used or had any credit in almost 10yrs. I've opted out, ordered all of my reports, signed up for a monitoring sevice, fixed my personal info. What should I try to get off next? Thank You

Doesnt this process only work for debts that are paid or you intend to pay?

Yes, but if they are medical collections that aren't even yours......you should use the Medical dispute letter and send it to the CRAs.

One other thing you could try is contacting the original healthcare provider billing dept and explain the situation and that someone else was using your name/identity. You may even have to fill out a fraud report.

Oh and they may continue to update it and change the date. CAs can do that monthly. It just means they are continuing to report it.

Hope that helps some.
