Default Can I request a Collection Recall

I'm fairly new to this forum and have been reading up on collection agencies. I have a collection amount of approx $600 appearing on my credit report. This debt is over 2 years old and I am willing to pay it. I do, however, want this taken completely off my credit report. This debt is owed to a hospital. Is there any way I can negotiate with the hospital itself to have them recall the debt and pay it to them? Do I need to get anything in writing? I would appreciate any and all comments on this matter as I'm sure this one situation being cleared would bring my credit score up dramatically.
thanks,
Karen

Anything is possible. It's possible that you can get the hospital to do that. I'm sure some hospitals will and some won't. It's just something you will have to ask them.

It'd be best to get a deal in writing that they will remove it before you pay for it. Many creditors won't do that. I don't pay those creditors. Whether you want to still pay them is up to you.
