I'm fairly new to this forum and have been reading up on collection agencies. I have a collection amount of approx $600 appearing on my credit report. This debt is over 2 years old and I am willing to pay it. I do, however, want this taken completely off my credit report. This debt is owed to a hospital. Is there any way I can negotiate with the hospital itself to have them recall the debt and pay it to them? Do I need to get anything in writing? I would appreciate any and all comments on this matter as I'm sure this one situation being cleared would bring my credit score up dramatically. thanks, Karen |

It'd be best to get a deal in writing that they will remove it before you pay for it. Many creditors won't do that. I don't pay those creditors. Whether you want to still pay them is up to you.
