Default Same Account showing twice

Chrysler claims that I owe them money on a lease I turned in almost 6 years ago. They have now apparently sold the debt to Cavalry Portfolio services and the same account is showing twice on my credit reports, once from Chrysler and once from Cavalry. IS this right? Surely there can't be more than 1 report to the CRA per account? Does anyone know how to take care of this?

Thanks.

YES. Bot the OC and CA can report the TL. Once the OC sells/transfers the account to a CA/JDB they must report the balance as $0.

Default account showing twice

so does the entry from the Original Creditor (OC) hurt your credit score in addition to the CA (which obviously hurts your score). Is there a way to get one of them removed?

Yes, if the OC tradeline is a negative one then it does hurt your score as well.

Have you done the basics of credit repair(i.e. opt out, remove old addresses, multiple names, outdated info from the personal section of CR's.)?

If you've done the basics, then you can dispute the accounts and see if they fall off. If you haven't done the basics, then do that first before disputing the accounts.
