I have recently found several things on my credit report that i can't agree with, or can't say i remember incurring the stated debt. I disputed them with the credit bureaus and some were removed but others were apparently verified and remained. I've submitted another dispute to the credit bureaus, and now i'm fashioning validation letters to send to the collectors themselves. So, what happens after that? I guess i'm most concerned that they'll actually participate in my validation request and send back a big pile of hooey that i can't say i'll really know what to do with. If i continue to not recognize the debt that they are claiming i owe what is my next course of action? I can't imagine that it would get this far, as like i said, some were removed, but if these managed to dodge the credit bureau's investigation bullet, then i'm actually kind of concerned that they're actually convinced that i really do owe them money for something. So...ok, that up there might have gotten confusing. I guess my question is, what happens after the validation request is received back? |

You can keep disputing them with the credit bureaus. I've disputed accounts 10-15 times before they've come off. You can also try pay for delete letters. Try to negotiate with the creditors. Tell them you don't believe the account is yours, but will pay 50% (or less) of it if they'll promise to take it off your credit report. Always get it in writing. There's not much else you can do with accounts that won't come off besides sue the creditor or credit bureau.
